The Russian-based and extremely strict anti-seismic regulations resulted in calculations requiring tremendous structural overdimensioning that could have resulted in an unacceptable visual clumsiness given the height of the building. This led to an assumed formal choice based on the emphasised use of diagonal ribs. These emphasise the effect of delicate stems provided by the softened curves of the white marble elevations as they reach out towards the city, lit by the spectacular beacon-like atrium rising up over the last five floors of the building.
